Performance Awards for Guitar
Performance Awards for electric guitar, bass, and rock guitar continue to be available from Registry of Guitar Tutors / London College of Music.Performance Awards for electric guitar, bass, and rock guitar continue to be available from Registry of Guitar Tutors / London College of Music.
Performance Awards are entered online in place of in-person exams. Candidates submit video recordings of their performances for evaluation. Successful candidates, meaning with a minimum mark of 65%, are issued certificates.
Four videos are required: two examples of lead guitar playing and two examples of rhythm guitar playing over examples contained in study materials. Students may use live accompaniment or backing tracks or drum loops. Students in levels 6-8 will need to prepare a piece for the Specialism Section, such as an additional lead playing or rhythm playing demonstration.
Teachers will help students choose selections that will feature their skills over the course of the four videos. Strategic planning will include a variety of styles (straight and shuffle), tempo, and time signatures.
Though due dates, if applicable, are still to be determined, Rick Imus Music Studio has dedicated Thursday, July 2 through Saturday, July 4 as Exam Week. No private lessons will be scheduled and private lesson teachers will be available to help students with their recording sessions.
While shoulder sections of the exam will not be assessed, Performance Awards for Electric Guitar, Bass and Rock Guitar are a convenient way for students to get this year’s progress recognized.
